The Gift of Family

The Gift of Family is a fundraising campaign to help us raise money to help young cancer patients offset the high costs of fertility preservation treatments. By making a donation to Fertile Future for the Gift of Family you are able to make a difference in someone’s life.

Young people diagnosed with cancer face unique challenges in their journeys. Many are diagnosed at the outset of their schooling or careers and often have heavy debt loads. They are often without secure jobs with pensions and benefits. These young people are struck down in the prime of their lives and while more than 80% of these patients survive their cancers they can be left infertile if they do not receive proper help and care at the beginning of their cancer journey.

10,000 Canadians under the age of 40 are diagnosed with cancer each year
Chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and other standard cancer treatments may cause infertility.
Fertility preservation is not a standard of care in Canada. Patients are not guaranteed to be informed of their infertility risks.
Fertility treatments are expensive and not covered by Provincial health care benefits save for Quebec.

Fertile Future and its many dedicated partners are are working hard to change this standard in Canada, and to ensure that all patients with fertility risking cancers are informed and have access to treatments should they choose.
