Fertile Future believes there is a strong need to inform, educate and assist regarding fertility preservation for cancer patients. We are confident that our next year of operation will be as productive as our first. Our priorities for the second fiscal year include:
- Raising Public Awareness Increasing awareness about the effect cancer treatments can have on fertility has always been one of Fertile Future’s the primary goals. We will continue to draw attention to our cause via on-going media relations, addressing key government decision makers, and hosting newsworthy events such as our inaugural gala, HOPE LIVE.
- Further Developing Established Resources Fertile Future will ensure up-to-date and accurate information is accessible to all Canadians. Our website is updated on an ongoing basis in both official languages, with pertinent information including news updates, database additions and maintenance, survivor stories, brochure downloads, links to other available resources, and much more. In addition, implementation of a national, toll-free phone number will increase accessibility for patients in need.
- Implementing a Financial Assistance Program Fertile Future has commenced developing the legal framework for a cost reduction program to assist cancer patients in accessing fertility preservation services. This program will give recognition to reproductive endocrinologists offering discounted services to cancer patients, and increase accessibility twofold, with donated fertility medications.
- Producing and Disseminating Information In addition to our brochure, Cancer and Fertility: A Guide for Young Adults, Fertile Future plans to create and disseminate information on two key topics in our second year: Cancer and Fertility: A Guide for Survivors and Cancer and Fertility: A Guide for Children and Parents. Our materials will be distributed in cancer treatment facilities and directly to medical professionals at conferences throughout the year. We will also begin the development of a fertility preservation program for oncology professionals. All information will be produced in both official languages.
